We are about to begin a new year, and I am excited to announce the launch of the CBCs Privacy and Data Protection Policy.
Our Privacy Policy is designed to provide the best possible experience for Canadians and is meant to protect your personal information.
To date, CBCs privacy practices have been widely used by the CBC, and we have made great strides in protecting our privacy.
As I said last year, we have always made it clear that we will not share your personal data with third parties without your permission.
We are taking steps to make this process as transparent as possible, including setting up an online form where you can opt out of sharing your personal details.
I have seen the benefits of transparency and openness.
Canadians have a right to know who is using their data, what it is used for and what it can be used for.
We have the right to access information that is shared with us.
In fact, I know many Canadians would love to know more about how we are using their personal information and we want to make sure our customers are able to know.
We will keep you updated with more information as we move forward with this process.
I am also announcing that CBCs data security team will be expanding its efforts to better protect our privacy and data security.
The team will focus on better identifying, identifying, and identifying the individuals behind the breaches of the information, as well as the people who are in the best position to identify and stop them.
As a result of this increased attention, the team will have increased access to the CBC’s internal network and the ability to collect information about the breaches.
The data they collect will be used to help identify people who may have committed additional breaches, and to help us better protect the information that Canadians have entrusted to us.
We also want to ensure that our privacy is protected as Canadians become more aware of how data is being collected and shared across the CBC.
For example, in the lead-up to this year’s election, we asked Canadians to provide their name, email address, and postal code for any information that we shared with third-party companies and governments.
That information was then shared with our partners to ensure they had appropriate rights to access the information.
The CBCs team has made significant progress to improve our privacy practices, and now we are in a position to provide a clear, open, and transparent set of privacy policies that will protect Canadians.
I would like to thank the CBC for its commitment to privacy, and its continued efforts to make our platform more secure and responsive to the needs of Canadians.
We look forward to hearing from you about our Privacy Policy in the coming months.
I also want you to know that CBC has expanded the number of people who can access your personal health information and other personal information by sharing it with the government.
This includes the Health and Social Services Canada, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans, and the Canadian Cancer Society.
Please contact your government, or contact the CBC if you have any questions about the expanded access to your personal and other information by the government, as part of its new data security framework.
As always, we will continue to work to make the CBC an even more secure place to work and live.
