Manhunt has intensified in St Louis as a manhunt continues for a man who authorities say shot and killed a woman outside a St. Charles park.
St. Joseph police said Tuesday night that a man in his 20s was taken into custody Wednesday morning.
Police said the shooting occurred at about 9:30 p.m.
Monday in the area of East 12th Street and Central Avenue.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired and found the victim in the middle of the street with a gunshot wound to the torso, police said.
The victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Police described the suspect as a white male wearing a dark colored shirt and blue jeans.
He was described as 6 feet tall and between 200 and 300 pounds.
The investigation is ongoing.
A man was taken to St Francis Hospital in St Charles for treatment after he was shot in the torso.
Police did not release the man’s name.
St Charles police Capt. Brian Anderson said the suspect was shot and arrested at the scene.
“We are actively pursuing the investigation at this time,” Anderson said.
“The St. John County Medical Examiner will be conducting an autopsy on the victim’s body.”
St. Croix County Prosecutor Mike Anderson said it was too early to release details about the investigation.
He said investigators were trying to determine whether the shooting was a random act or an act of terrorism.
Anderson said police had been investigating the possibility of terrorism since the early hours of Jan. 7, but he didn’t know if any of those factors had played a role in the incident.
